My timecard cards are often non-machinable.
Non-machinable mail can not fit through postal machines. The envelopes are either too thick, rigid, padded or have unusual object inside so USPS requires extra postage to hand cancel.
First-Class Mail postage for a 1 ounce letter is $0.78 at the Post Office or $0.74 if purchased online (metered). Postcards cost $0.61. There are additional costs for larger envelopes or heavier letters.
